For Bryant Blay, CPA, Chief Financial Officer at Montgomery County Memorial Hospital + Clinics (MCMH) in Red Oak, Iowa, the month-end close used to take nearly two weeks — a grind of spreadsheets, manual reconciliations, and delayed visibility.

With separate systems for the hospital, clinics, and financials, Blay’s team often didn’t see revenue data in the general ledger until weeks later. “We were closing the books with one hand tied behind our back,” he said. “We couldn’t make timely decisions because our data wasn’t current.”

“Every answer went through accounting,” Blay said. “Decisions were delayed, and we simply could not move fast enough.”

MCMH needed a system that could unify financial and clinical data while eliminating redundant logins and manual exports. Multiview ERP, integrated with Oracle Health (formerly Cerner), became that foundation.

Creating real-time visibility across finance and operations

Since implementing Multiview, MCMH’s month-end close has dropped from 10–12 days to just 2–3 days — a 79% improvement in reporting speed

The transformation began with a simple but powerful shift: daily integration between the hospital’s Oracle Health patient accounting system and the general ledger. Instead of waiting for monthly uploads, the finance team now receives full transaction-level data each day — summarized to the GL but fully drillable for analysis.

Today, the entire leadership team sees revenue performance in real time. What used to be monthly conversations about “why” numbers changed have become daily, data-informed discussions about how to act.

Engaging managers in daily financial stewardship

Before Multiview, department managers received budget updates weeks after month-end. Now, they’re part of the process. Budgets are pre-loaded with projections, allowing managers to adjust instead of starting from scratch.

The new cadence has shifted the culture from chasing numbers to owning them. “We’ve moved from number-chasing conversations to strategic ones,” Blay explained during a recent educational session.

That shift proved critical when MCMH lost an orthopedic provider, creating a sudden revenue dip. Instead of layoffs, leaders used real-time cost and staffing data to reassign employees and stabilize operations — a decision Blay credits to better insight and transparency

“Transparency helps us act faster and protect our staff,” said Blay. “When you can see the data daily, you can make better choices.”
